Northern Exposure Cairns (4 days) Queensland's northern town of Cairns is the gateway to Australia's marine wonderland, the Great Barrier Reef, and to spectacularly lush rain forests farther up the coast: both the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rain Forest are protected World Heritage sites, celebrated internationally for the intricacy and beauty of the ecosystems they house. You'll stay at the newly opened Sea Temple Resort and Spa, a beautiful hotel located right on the beach at Palm Cove, twenty minutes north of Cairns; or at the Cairns International Hotel, an elegant hotel with Colonial decor and great views of the harbor; or at the Pacific International, a contemporary hotel overlooking Marlin Marina.
On your second day you'll take the Quicksilver catamaran to the outer reef. There you'll have time to explore the waters, and you'll be treated to an environmental presentation by a marine biologist and a smorgasbord luncheon. On your third day you'll take a train to the jungle village of Kuranda, passing spectacular waterfalls and dense tropical foliage. Up north you'll explore, eat, and see an award-winning Aborigine dance performance. You'll return to Cairns via a cable car that glides over the canopy of the rain forest. On your fourth day you'll be transferred to the airport. The tour price includes hotel accommodations, transfers, taxes and sightseeing as noted. Rate per person*
