Rock of Ages![]() Ayers Rock (2 days) The world's greatest monolith, Ayers Rock - or "Uluru" as the Aborigines call it - rises out of Australia's desert plains to a height of 1,026 feet. It is almost inconceivably ancient and intensely beautiful: as the sun passes through the sky, the rock catches its light and reflects it in shades from burgundy and crimson to indigo and slate gray. The Aborigines placed the rock high in their spiritual framework, and when you see this massive spectacle of nature, you'll understand why.
On your tour of the rock, you'll
stay at Sails in the Desert Hotel - where you'll find amenities
including a pool, tennis courts and spa facilities - or at Desert
Gardens, which also boasts
a pool and tennis facilities. On your first evening you'll tour
the rock at sunset to witness firsthand the splendor of light playing on its surface.
You'll also tour the nearby jumble of massive boulders known as The Olgas. In the morning
you'll rise early to see sunrise over the rock, and those feeling athletic will have an
opportunity to climb it. Later in
the day you'll be transferred to the airport. Deluxe
