Victorian Times Melbourne ![]() (4 days) Melbourne, the capital of Australia's state of Victoria, is a stately city with tree-lined boulevards, imposing architecture, flower-filled parks and historic churches and banks. But that is only part of the story of this metropolis. It is also a polyglot city with a huge population of immigrants from the Mediterranean and such delightful features as a network of electric trams, horse-racing courses and a lake for boating.
In Melbourne, you'll stay at the newly opened deluxe Park Hyatt Melbourne, or at the Langham, a thoroughly modern and luxurious hotel; or at the Hotel Lindrum, a sophisticated, contemporary traveler's haven in the heart of Melbourne. On the morning of your second day in Melbourne, you'll take a tour of the city and learn its history. In the afternoon you'll take a motor coach to Phillip Island, where you'll witness one of Australia's most charming shows: the nightly sunset parade of hundreds of fairy penguins.
On your third day you'll head to one of Victoria's most attractive older cities, Ballarat, where you'll tour a wildlife park filled with many of Australia's unique species and also see Sovereign Hill, a remarkably vivid recreation of a typical Australian gold-mining town of the 1850s. On your fourth day you'll be transferred to the airport.
The tour price includes hotel accommodations,
transfers, taxes and sightseeing as noted.
