Bali
The Realm of the Gods

Bali is one of the World's favorite destinations. The island is famous for its charm and its beauty: in the hills, green-gold rice terraces, which fall away from the sky with abandon and graceful young women dance to the ethereal tones of the gamelan; by the sea, long white stretches of sand curve to meet the sea and coconut fronds sway in peaceful breezes.

In the last decade, Bali's natural beauty has been matched by the marvelous hotels that have been built on the island, hotels that are now consistently ranked among the best in the world. They offer a superb complement to Bali's graciousness and provide travelers with stunning staging grounds from which to venture forth into the Balinese world. Travelers to the island will find a huge array of sights, sounds and adventures await them. Ride a bicycle through the rice paddies.  Tour a monkey forest. Have a traditional Balinese massage. Go white water rafting. Watch a sunset from a temple. Listen to the cool sounds at Ubud's Jazz Café. Visit a Balinese herb garden. Feast on Indonesian delicacies in an award winning restaurant. Shop for Balinese lace. The options are endless. These days it is invigorating and relaxing to be in Bali, a place so much of the centuries-old culture feels new. Bali is a place that will enchant you, a new world in which to discover and rediscover life.

Balinese Raptures
(8 days)

You'll fly from Los Angeles to Bali via Singapore on Singapore Airlines. Upon arrival, you'll head to  Jimbaran Bay, a sweeping crescent of sand and cliff ob Bali's southern coast.. There you'll spend four nights at either the Four Seasons or the Ritz-Carlton.  Both hotels are perched on the cliffs overlooking the bay and offer spectacular views. At the Four Seasons, you'll stay in a king villa, a world unto itself, built around a central courtyard with a plunge pool and featuring three luxurious pavilions:  for dining,  for bathing, and for sleeping. At the Ritz-Carlton,  you'll stay in a deluxe ocean-view room. Both hotels are large lavish resorts with spectacular landscaping and stunning architecture: they offer exceptional restaurants, beautiful swimming pools, exquisitely designed spas, modern fitness centers, and an extensive array of activities for guests, including temple tours, biking trips, hikes and Balinese dance classes.
After four days by the coast, you'll head inland to Ubud, Bali's center of culture and the arts. Ubud is home to fascinating galleries filled with paintings, sculptures and antiques. Ubud's  furniture, clothing and jewelry stores offer innovative, elegant creations and restaurants in town serve some of the finest food in Southeast Asia. In Ubud, you'll have three days at a stunning hideaway perched  above the rivers that snake through inland gorges, at either the Four Seasons Sayan or the Pita Maha. The Four Seasons Sayan is set on 18 acres on a verdant hillside overlooking the  sacred Ayung River. An architectural marvel, the Sayan property uses lily ponds, flowing water and rustic landscaping to evoke a Balinese spirit; these features are juxtaposed with clean lines,  modern materials and sophisticated design to create a contemporary tropical beauty. At Sayan you'll stay in a private villa with its own swimming pool and lush landscaping. The Pita Maha is a member of the Small Leading Hotels of the World; and intimate oasis, it was designed by a member of the Ubud royal family and is modeled after a Balinese village. Its 24 villas overlook the stunning River Oos, as does its spa, pool and spectacular two-storey restaurant. At the Pita Maha you'll stay in a garden villa with a private pool. At the end of your tour, you'll be flown back to Los Angeles.

The tour price includes roundtrip airfare from Los Angeles, hotel accommodations, breakfasts, taxes, and transfers.
